The Bolita Princess: Rhonda Baker-Stanberry Business Entertainment by - 0 Hollywood Elites Magazine recently had the privilege of sitting down with Rhonda Baker-Stanberry, the dynamic singer, actress, and author whose career has spanned over four decades. Known as “The Bolita Princess,” Rhonda opened up about her life, her inspirations, and the lessons she’s learned along the way. Hollywood Elites Magazine: Rhonda, your career has been incredibly diverse, spanning music, acting, and writing. How did it all begin for you? Rhonda Baker-Stanberry: It all started with my father, Frank Price. He noticed early on that I had a natural talent for music, so he enrolled me in piano and voice lessons. My real breakthrough came when I began studying under Eleanor Boaz at Boaz Studios. She took me under her wing as her personal protégé and taught me to use my voice as an instrument. Those early years shaped me into the artist I am today. Hollywood Elites Magazine: You’ve mentioned that your musical influences include greats like Nancy Wilson. How did those icons shape your approach to music? Rhonda Baker-Stanberry: Nancy Wilson was a huge influence on me. Her style, grace, and ability to captivate an audience were qualities I admired and aspired to. My father always told me to be versatile as an artist, never to pigeonhole myself. So, while I was deeply inspired by legends like Nancy Wilson, I learned to master various styles. It was essential to be able to perform any type of music and to always be prepared. Hollywood Elites Magazine: Your career took a significant turn when you starred in “Manhattan Towers” alongside your father. What was that experience like for you? Rhonda Baker-Stanberry: That was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life. Sharing the stage with my father in “Manhattan Towers” was a dream come true. It was a culmination of all the lessons, rehearsals, and performances we had shared over the years. It felt like everything had come full circle. Hollywood Elites Magazine: After your father’s passing, you continued to pursue music while juggling other responsibilities. How did you manage to keep your passion for music alive during those challenging times? Rhonda Baker-Stanberry: It wasn’t easy. After my father passed away suddenly in 1983, I had to balance being a single mother, working as a grant writer, and maintaining a music career. But music was always close to my heart. I co-wrote, co-produced, and recorded with Kenneth “FM” Andres, all while working full-time. My faith kept me grounded during those tough times. Falling in love with Jesus was the best thing I ever did, and it helped me get through the difficult periods. Hollywood Elites Magazine: You’ve also taken on the role of an author, writing a book about your father’s life. What inspired you to tell his story? Rhonda Baker-Stanberry: My father always talked about writing a book about his life as a numbers runner and bolita king, but he never got the chance to do it. After he passed, I made it my mission to fulfill his dream. That’s how “Numbers 35 & 53: The Case of the Brown Paper Bag” came to be. It’s an unfiltered account of his life, filled with all the ups and downs he experienced. Writing it allowed me to connect with him and share his story with the world. Hollywood Elites Magazine: You’re still making music today, performing with your band, The Bolita Princess & The Black Notes. Tell us about that journey. Rhonda Baker-Stanberry: Creating “The Bolita Princess & The Black Notes” was like coming home for me. The band is made up of some of the best musicians I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and I’m blessed to have them by my side. We’ve built something special together, and it’s allowed me to keep my passion for music alive. Hollywood Elites Magazine: How do you spend your time when you’re not performing or writing? Rhonda Baker-Stanberry: I enjoy spending my free time with my daughter, Toni Dion, and our Tibetan Mastiff, Mo-Mo. We love hanging out at Neptune Beach in Florida. It’s our little sanctuary where we can relax and enjoy each other’s company. I also attend Life Point Church in Jacksonville, which has been a great source of community and support for me. Hollywood Elites Magazine: Lastly, what words of wisdom would you share with aspiring artists? Rhonda Baker-Stanberry: My father always told me, “I do not follow patterns; I set them.” That’s the advice I live by and would pass on to anyone pursuing their dreams. Be true to yourself, stay versatile, and never limit your potential. And most importantly, trust in God to guide you on your journey. In this heartfelt conversation, Rhonda Baker-Stanberry reminded us why she’s remained a beloved figure in the entertainment industry. Her resilience, talent, and dedication continue to inspire not only her fans but also the next generation of artists.
