At just 12 years old, she began designing clothes, and by 18, she turned her passion into a business, launching Stardom and making a name for herself in the world of fashion.

A Designer with a Unique Vision

Michelle’s designs stand out for their originality and vibrant aesthetics. She has explored various styles throughout her career, creating fashion that blends creativity with culture. Her Cover Me Wear collection featured elegant ponchos for winter and breezy outfits for summer, proving her versatility. In 2016, inspired by her love for Asian culture, she launched a Japanese- and Chinese-inspired collection, infusing her designs with traditional and modern elements. Her admiration for Harajuku and Lolita styles is also evident in her accessories, which exude charm and playfulness.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, Michelle saw an opportunity to breathe new life into unused fabrics she had collected over the years. This led to the birth of Butterfly Revival, a collection that became more than just a fashion line—it was a symbol of transformation, resilience, and hope.

“Butterfly Revival isn’t just about butterflies,” Michelle explains. “It’s about starting new journeys, lifting others up, and embracing freedom. I poured my heart into pieces ranging from hoodies to businesswear, ensuring that every woman can find something that empowers her.”

Her signature touch? Delicate ribbons and flower petals, which she has incorporated into her designs since the beginning. Every creation is colorful, elegant, and meant to make the wearer feel extraordinary.

The People Who Inspire Her

Behind every great designer is a strong support system, and Michelle is deeply grateful for hers. She credits her faith, family, and mentors for shaping her journey.

“I thank God for giving me this gift. I know fashion is my purpose, and I’m blessed to pursue it,” she shares.

Her father, Pastor Jim, has always believed in her talent, encouraging her to chase her dreams. Her mother, Trish Steele, is not only her role model but also the founder of Safe Passage, a charity helping abused women and children. Trish once dreamed of being a fashion designer herself, but life led her into modeling and celebrity makeup artistry before she dedicated her life to philanthropy.

“My mother’s journey inspired me. She showed me that creativity and helping others can go hand in hand. I volunteer for her charity, and I’m honored to continue her passion for fashion in my own way.”

Michelle also had a mentor, Marisa Stein, a renowned fashion designer who sold her unique hand-crocheted pieces at Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s. Marisa taught Michelle how to sew and crochet, leaving a lasting impact on her creative path. Though she has since passed away, her influence lives on in Michelle’s work.

“Marisa was like family to me. Her designs were unlike anything else, and she always encouraged me to embrace my creativity. I miss her dearly, but I know she’d be proud.”

Overcoming Challenges & Advice to Young Designers

Success in the fashion industry doesn’t come easily, and Michelle has faced her share of obstacles. From criticism and jealousy in high school to the pressure of designing new collections every season, she has learned the importance of resilience.

“I had people tell me I wasn’t good enough, and for a while, I believed them. But then I realized—why should I care what they think? I took a step forward, left the negativity behind, and focused on what I love.”

For aspiring designers, Michelle offers this advice:
